Yesterday I pulled the trigger on an Emmons S-10, S/N 1429-S. It will be here next week. In search of more information, I signed up for this forum and have found some good stuff. I've reviewed the tuning procedure (several versions in fact) and feel prepared to accomplish that as needed. I'd love to learn more specific info about the model I have. Best I can figure it was built around 1975, based on online research.
As an introduction, I've been playing 7 years. I have had all-pull guitars from Carter, Williams, GFI, Justice and Mullen and have rerodded and setup all of them. I started steel guitar in 2017 after playing six string for 50 years; left hand arthritis made that impossible so I sold my tele and bought a BMI from Jerry Roller. I play solo gigs with tracks and play in several bands. Easy to keep busy with this instrument. I do not limit myself to country, and love figuring out steel parts for rock and pop songs.
My day job is teaching automation and robotics at a local college. My goal is to get strong enough on these guitars to help others.
Thanks for letting me in!!
I've been playing pedal steel for over 40 years now. In 1991, I bought my Emmons push-pull D-10 8x5. Had 2 all-pull MSA guitars prior to that. The sound of the push-pull was far superior to the old MSA's, so I sold them both. I have a ReSound-65 D-10 on order since Jan 2023, hopefully to take delivery some time in 2025. The mechanics of the push-pull are a bit more complicated than an all pull, but the sound is incomparable. Best of luck to you, i am sure you will love it.
